What makes See Beautiful different? These success stories from a few of our funded See Beautiful Giving Initiatives speak for themselves.
The sanitation project that See Beautiful funded has yet to be constructed, but here’s a photo of a latrine in another village similar to the one that will be built with See Beautiful funding.
Mavuno initially connected with See Beautiful through a simple Instagram comment. Since then, See Beautiful has turned into one of our most valuable and aligned partnerships. Lydia and her team worked with us to build an effective (and rapidly successful) campaign that will fund the construction of several latrines in rural communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where we are based. Beyond that, the See Beautiful team has continually demonstrated a passion for continued involvement in our cause. ...No other grantmaking organization we've worked with has been so invested in our vision in such a personal way....[more] We're proud to be a part of the See Beautiful family. There's nothing quite like it! Nathan Johnson, VP Communications,MAVUNO
This is the trailer purchased with the help of See Beautiful's donation to deliver more comfort kids to children in need.
See Beautiful is one of the most amazing giving initiatives with which Little Lambs Foundation for Kids has had the pleasure of working. Our foundation was in desperate need of a trailer to transport and deliver comfort kits to children transitioning into foster care. When delivering to multiple agencies, we were struggling to have enough space to transport the large amount of items that needed to be delivered to the children. We contacted See Beautiful and was approved as one of their Giving Initiatives. They helped us raise $3500 in a short amount of time, and we are so grateful to everyone at See Beautiful that now we can travel even further to help children throughout Utah. We are definitively seeing more beautiful in this world. Thank you See Beautiful for helping us further our mission. Ted Chalfant, Founder & CEO,LITTLE LAMBS FOUNDATION FOR KIDS
With the support of See Beautiful and the Kula Project, a community of Rwandan women celebrate their land and coffee trees.
The Kula Project's See Beautiful Giving Initiative empowered an entire community of women living with HIV/AIDS in Rwanda as they fight to live. While meeting with this group of amazingly resilient women, who all contracted the disease during the genocide, they told us they desperately needed help earning a sustainable income. They had organized themselves into a cooperative in an effort to get antiretroviral medicine but also with the hopes of starting a savings circle allowing them to buy a piece of land. They wanted to turn this piece of land into a coffee farm, and as we, the Kula Project, invest in the dreams and businesses of coffee farmers, they asked us for help. When we asked them why coffee, Shantal, one of the women in the cooperative, said “We want our children to be able to go to school. The income from this land will guarantee that.” The women even signed contracts naming successors to their portions of the trees and income, should they succumb to their disease before their children finish school, so no matter what, these coffee trees can fund an education. Because of the See Beautiful Giving Initiative, we were able to fund that land and the coffee trees that are now planted on it for this incredible group of women and their families. Since then, they have been able to expand both the land and health insurance coverage, and their coffee trees are on their way to becoming a source of sustainable and lasting income for these women and their children. See Beautiful saw beautiful in this tenacious group of women, and that is something we will always be thankful for. Sarah Buchanan, Co-Founder & CEO, THE KULA PROJECT
OurSee Beautiful Giving Initiative has had a tremendous impact on Helping Mamas’ ability to carry out our mission. Because of the giving initiative we were able to donate thousands of diapers to families in need. We set a goal to distribute 100,000 diapers this year, and with See Beautiful’s support we are well on our way to reaching our goal.
Partnering with See Beautiful has allowed us to share our mission with new donors and supporters. The See Beautiful team made the process easy and exciting. I highly encourage organizations or individuals to participate in a See Beautiful Giving Initiative. Your existing supporters as well as new supporters are able to get unique beautiful items that are designed with your goal in mind. It is a fun way for people to support your cause. It also allows your advocates and friends to continue to back your mission and the See Beautiful mission long after the Giving Initiative is over. I also love that Helping Mamas was able to encourage our supporters to spread the See Beautiful message through this giving initiative. See Beautiful continues to be an advocate and friend to Helping Mamas. We couldn’t do this work without the incredible partnership from their team! Jamie Lackey, Co-Founder & CEO, HELPING MAMAS
New Hope Center (Testimonial Part 1): This See Beautiful Giving Initiative has helped fund and continues to pay school fees for 55 orphaned children in elementary school in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Only 40% of the children in the Eastern part of the country have parents who can afford to send them to school, so these kids are very lucky. At New Hope Center (NHC), a group of Congolese teens in secondary school come after school a couple days each week and make bracelets out of their drawings. Through the See Beautiful team’s creative thinking, they have helped us to sell the bracelets that the teens make. What a surprise for the young people when last year they got to meet Lydia, the founder of See Beautiful, and show her what they do! This demonstrates that See Beautiful understands the importance of follow up as well as the mutual impact that our organizations share. It is unusual to find organizations that connect with what we do on such a personal level.
Our partnership with See Beautiful has been a very positive one and a great encouragement to us personally. The interest and concern that See Beautiful has shown for our work in DR Congo is amazing. See Beautiful shares in the vision and mission of NHC and is truly a compassionate, transparent and trustworthy organization. We feel very lucky to have this partnership and only wish for it to continue. Anita & Bruce Paden, Founders & CEO's of the NEW HOPE CENTER
New Hope Center and See Beautiful’s partnership helps to support children like Bene afford to go to school.
New Hope Center (Testimonial Part: 2): Bene, a seven-year-old boy, had a suffered from selective mutism. It started when he witnessed an uncle pass away. Bene was held back in school because he refused to participate in the required oral exams. He passed the written exams easily, as Bene was a very bright child. The parents came to the New Hope Center (NHC) and wondered if we could help. They had been to three different psychologists but no one had been able to help Bene. We said that we would try to help. We contacted Lydia, with her PhD in Early Childhood Education, and explained the problem. She knew right away that she wanted to meet Bene. Amazingly enough, Lydia was only able to spend one day in Goma and a few hours at NHC. She met Bene, his mom, principal of his school, his teacher and the staff of NHC. She clearly explained the issue and offered resources to support Bene. She left Goma hoping that Bene would find his voice. After two months Bene started to speak at his school. Everyone was so surprised and relieved. Today, thanks to See Beautiful and Lydia, Bene is happy and free to speak and will be moving up to the next grade. He's out of his misery. What a wonderful thing! Thank you Lydia and SB for going the extra mile to help kids in DR Congo. Anita & Bruce Paden, Founders & CEO's of the NEW HOPE CENTER
HOW Global started our work with See Beautiful two years ago. We were seeking a partner for a project in Haiti to assist with earthquake victims. There was a school in the tent camp area, and See Beautiful helped us to support the school with water filters and emergency needs. We went on to form a trusting partnership with See Beautiful. I knew from the beginning that our organizations were a good match. The next project we worked on together was in Kenya where young girls were walking miles to fetch water for school and home use. See Beautiful helped us fund a tank for the water well we drilled and also supported our education initiative for young girls. In Ghana, we delivered 1000 water filtering straws to our hub in a rural area where young boys are used as slaves to tend cattle. They must fend for their own water. In Kenya, See Beautiful helped to support a Greenhouse as well as purchasing goats for a family to start their own business. I believe that to form any partnership, either personal or business, a trusting relationship must first be established, and that is definitely what we have with See Beautiful. It is so nice to work with a company that has no ego and thrives just on the love of giving. I talk about See Beautiful all the time as I admire the homework they do before supporting a charity. Rachael Paulson, Founder & CEO, HOW GLOBAL
Claudia was one of the first students at Glorious. She lost her parents to HIV when she was very young. Claudia is now in a safe place, surrounded by a new family who loves her. Each day she receives healthy meals, she has clean clothes, and no longer has to make the long trek to and from school. Because we are generating income through the bus that See Beautiful funded, it wasn't a question as to whether or not we could take another child into the home. Alice was able to make a decision that will positively impact Claudia forever.
Last year Glorious Orphanage was confronted with a huge problem - a group of 15 orphans were being evicted from their foster home and had no place to go. Alice, Glorious' Tanzanian Founder immediately took these children in.. She brought them to study at her school, and found a temporary home for these children to live, but they needed transportation to school as well. The community designed a solution - a small shuttle bus (Dala Dala). The bus will transport the children to and from school every day, but in addition, it will transport people around the city and make $20 per day, 6 days per week ($480 per month). The profits generated from this bus combined with the produce from a small permaculture garden will sustainably support the expenses of the 15 kids and ensure they have a fully belly before bed, and an education to pave the way for a better future. The money from your donation helped us cover a portion of the cost for the bus, which is now being used and generating income to sustainably support these beautiful children!
Beyond supporting the livelihood of 15 orphaned children (which is HUGE!) See Beautiful was open to funding the project that we knew was going to be the best solution for our community. It was a non-traditional project that some people had difficulty understanding. See Beautiful believed in us and believed in our community to know what the right solution was to support these beautiful children, and for that we are so grateful. The partnership has been truly wonderful and really seamless - See Beautiful was patient with us as we sought funding from others to complete fundraising the entire cost of the bus, they trusted us to know what was best for our community, were loving, and we are so lucky to be able to work with them! We would work together with See Beautiful again in a heartbeat. Lydia is one of the most loving, kind hearted and generous people we have been able to meet. Partnering with See Beautiful has helped us to make a lifetime of impact in the lives of 15 children who because of the care they are receiving, will be able to take advantage of any opportunity that comes their way. We were so grateful to have the flexibility to choose a project that we felt was the most important for our community and our children - and as a result, we were able to have a really beautiful impact on the lives of our kids. Hannah Ames Beavers, Co-Founder, GLORIOUS ORPHANAGE
I’ll never forget the day See Beautiful Founder, Lydia Criss-Mays, reached out to me with heartfelt words of encouragement and empowerment for the work I’ve been doing with Life Vest Inside. A short conversation turned into a lifelong friendship and relationship with See Beautiful that I will always cherish. The support Life Vest Inside received was off the charts, from See Beautiful introducing their community to the mission of the organization, to social media support, to their time equity, to the above and beyond financial contribution that significantly helped Life Vest Inside stay afloat, allowing us to continue giving back to the world at large. I can honestly say that without the support of See Beautiful, Life Vest Inside would not be where we are today. See Beautiful is so much in line with Life Vest Inside’s mission, and it is clear that they are infusing beauty and the ability for others to see that beauty day in and day out in a world that some may label as dark. Thank you for bringing light to the eyes of so many! Orly Wahba, Founder & CEO, LIFE VEST INSIDE
See Beautiful has been an incredible friend to The Path Project. We run community centers in at-risk communities and strive to "help kids find the right path for their lives" through after school homework programs and clubs. An important part of our work is empowering young girls to gain confidence. I will always remember our first See Beautiful event. We met at a restaurant, and the girls were asked to encourage their peers in the room. It was an opportunity that we had never considered offering the girls before. They rose to the occasion to uplift each other through their words. They spent the rest of the evening taking pictures, laughing, and singing. Their kindness had created a safe environment to be real and honest and fun. This event infused a spirit of encouragement into the DNA of our middle and high school program. During all of our See Beautiful events, or even on random afternoons, the girls take time to encourage each other through their words. We have also hosted See Beautiful events that include community service activities where our girls encourage others in the community. We are honored to partner with See Beautiful!!
